NoOneOut – Our Diversity is our Great Asset (NOO!), a project that aims to increase motivation to create a proper and positive working atmosphere, friendly and stimulating for all students without exception. The project is an initiative to address the common challenges faced by 10-15-year-old students, such as lack of motivation, difficulty focusing, and indifference in social relations. ABOUT THE PROJECT

“NoOneOut – Our Diversity is Our Great Asset” project has a comprehensive and thoughtful approach to addressing the challenges faced by 10-15-year-old students, especially in the aftermath of the pandemic. The focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a crucial step in fostering the holistic development of students, addressing not only academic concerns but also their mental and emotional well-being.

Here are some of the steps and outcomes of the implementation of the project:

Providing the SEL Curriculum to Local Contexts

While SEL principles are universal, it's essential to consider local cultural contexts and nuances when implementing the curriculum. This ensures that the program is relatable and resonates with the experiences of the students.

Professional Development for Educators

Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for educators to enhance their understanding and implementation of SEL strategies. This could include workshops, training sessions, and collaborative learning experiences.

Engage Parents and Caregivers

Involve parents and caregivers actively in the project. Conduct workshops or informational sessions to educate them about the importance of SEL and how they can support their children at home. A strong partnership between schools and families reinforces the impact of the program.

Student Leadership Opportunities

Create opportunities for students to take on leadership roles within the project. This not only empowers them but also encourages a sense of responsibility and ownership in the success of the program.

Crisis Response and Mental Health Support

Develop protocols for crisis response and ensure that there are avenues for mental health support within the school. Addressing the aftermath of the pandemic requires sensitivity to the mental health challenges students may be facing.

Students and teachers took part in the LM1, where they had the opportunity to learn about different cultures. They experienced diversity and effective communication through team building and participated in the activities organized by the Greek partner.

The last phase hosted by Cumhuriyet Ortaokulu in Denizli. Partners reviewed progress, focusing on the final E-book, dissemination, and final report, marking a strong and impactful project conclusion.

Denmark

Ravnsholtskolen, a public school near Copenhagen, caters to 550 students aged 6-16. The 40-year-old school is well-equipped with modern facilities, including smartboards and Chromebooks. There’s an emphasis on integrating outdoor surroundings into the learning environment, and the school has participated in six Comenius/Erasmus+ projects, promoting internationalization and self-esteem among students. In response to an increase in students facing challenges like anxiety and school refusal, the school has established a Pedagogical Learning Center and a Development Center, staffed with trained counselors and supervisors. The diverse team is eager to contribute experiences and learn from international partners to enhance methods for addressing students’ emotional and academic needs.

Cumhuriyet Ortaokulu

Türkiye

Established in 1931, our state secondary school in Acipayam, located 65 km from Denizli, serves a community of 549 students aged 10-14. The school, situated alongside two other secondary schools, draws students from the neighborhood, preferred by white-collar workers. While parents prioritize academic skills, there’s a need to address the evolving demands of the 21st century job market. The school, facing challenges like student behavior issues and teacher burnout, has conducted a SWOT analysis and identified the urgent need for change. Inspired by Ziya Selcuk’s insights, the school aims to update teaching methods through an Erasmus+ strategic partnership, focusing on 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and social-emotional skills.

Italy

Istituto Comprensivo Monte Rosello Basso (ICMRB) is a public school in Sassari, Italy, with 661 students across kindergarten, primary, and lower secondary levels. Situated in a disadvantaged area, the school embraces a multicultural environment, promoting cooperation, inclusion, and healthy relationships. Key objectives include a focus on a Healthy and Active Lifestyle, Sport, Inclusion, Environmental Protection, Cultural Heritage, Foreign Languages, and ICT. Despite challenges such as early school leaving and family issues, the school’s project proposal aims to connect students with European peers, fostering cultural understanding and a sense of belonging to Europe through planned activities and partner country visits.

Mousiko Gymnasioof Chalkida 'Nikos Skalkotas'

Greece

Mousiko Gymnasio of Chalkida ‘Nikos Skalkotas’ is a growing state secondary school in the outskirts of Chalkida, Greece, named after the renowned composer Nikos Skalkotas. Established in 2014, it has 120 students and 36 teachers, focusing on music education, instrumental instruction, and the national curriculum. The school emphasizes inclusiveness, promoting the idea that every student, regardless of abilities or background, has a role and talent. With a moto of inclusiveness, the school creates a positive environment for students facing various challenges, aiming to enhance their social skills, emotional learning, well-being, and ecological thinking. As a newcomer to the Erasmus+ community, the school aspires to broaden students’ future perspectives.

NGO NEST Berlin

Germany

NEST Berlin e.V. is a non-profit organization functioning as a hub for transnational mobility, focusing on education, adult training, and social inclusion projects in Berlin’s Wedding Neighborhood. Engaging in over 30 Erasmus+ projects, NEST collaborates with stakeholders across Europe, emphasizing best practices in NGO coordination and innovation. The organization has a strong presence in research activities, partnering with the University of Applied Sciences Bonn Rhein-Sieg. With expertise in areas such as community building, intercultural dialogue, and education through sport, NEST aims for human, social, and socioeconomic development. Offering a range of services, NEST promotes non-formal education methods, supports mobility opportunities, and actively engages in the design and management of international projects across various sectors.

Glerarskoli Akureyri

Iceland

Glerárskóli is a public school in Akureyri, Iceland, serving students aged 6-16. With 350 students and 65 employees, it fosters academic excellence, emotional well-being, and an active lifestyle, supported by its sports center, swimming pool, and Youth Center. The school specializes in student support, addressing anxiety, school avoidance, and communication skills through a dedicated team of counselors, therapists, and educators. Actively engaged in Erasmus+ projects, Glerárskóli promotes cultural exchange, digital learning, and hands-on workshops. With a holistic approach to education, Glerárskóli equips students with the skills and confidence to thrive in a changing world.
